I would like to attend a Greater Syracuse DBSA group. How do I go about doing that?

Why don’t you list your meeting location, dates, and times on this site or on the DBSA chapter locator page?
We do not disclose our chapter’s meeting locations, dates, and times on this website or on the national DBSA site because we, as group facilitators, need to determine if this group is appropriate for interested individuals. We do not turn away anyone struggling with depression or bipolar disorder. However, if your support needs fall outside the scope of what we cover with in our meetings (i.e. you are a family member of someone with depression or bipolar disorder or you are looking for support for other types of mental health issues other than depression and bipolar disorder), we will do our very best to provide you with resources to find the support that you need. Another reason we do not disclose meeting details online is to alleviate potential overcrowding situations at our meetings. Our meeting location is limited in size and we try to keep a meetings to reasonable duration. How do I know if group has been cancelled due to inclement weather or some other reason?
We will post on the blog page if we need to cancel a group meeting for whatever reason as soon as we know. For inclement weather, we will make a decision whether to cancel group or not as early as possible on the day of that particular meeting. As a general rule, we will post that decision no later than three hours before the meeting start time. We will be using the road conditions and the weather forecast for the location of the meeting to make that determination so those variables might be different depending on where you are traveling from. As always, use your own discretion whether or not it is safe for you to travel to the meeting even if the meeting is still listed as happening. If no meeting announcements are posted on a meeting day having potentially inclement weather, please contact our facilitator Tim via email at tim@syracusedbsa.org or by phone (315) 882-0371 and we will let you know what the meeting status is & update the blog ASAP.
